We are seeking community feedback on the draft Access for Everyone Plan 2026-2031 to help ensure it reflects the needs, experiences and priorities of our community.

The draft Plan outlines Council's commitment to creating a more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming community where everyone can participate fully in community life. It builds on previous inclusion and accessibility work and expands its focus beyond disability to include a broader range of people who may experience barriers to participation, including older people, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and those experiencing social or economic disadvantage.

Feedback from residents, community groups, and businesses will help shape the final plan and inform actions to improve accessibility, inclusion and participation across the Rural City of Wangaratta over the next five years. While all feedback will be carefully considered, Council must continue to meet legislative obligations and make funding decisions through its established budget and planning processes.

We encourage everyone to review the draft plan and share their feedback by Monday 28 September 2026.

What can be influenced:

  • Priorities within the plan
  • Whether the proposed actions reflect the community needs
  • Identification of missing barriers or issues
  • Suggestions for new actions or improvements
  • Ways to improve accessibility, inclusion, participation, and overall sense of belonging in Wangaratta

What cannot be influenced:

  • State and Federal legislative requirements that Council must comply with
  • Councils legal obligations under the Disability Act, Gender Equality Act, Local Government Act, and other legislation
  • Funding available and budget decisions that are subject to Council's annual budget processes
  • Actions that are outside Council's responsibility or authority

The draft Access for Everyone Plan is located in the sidebar under 'documents'.
