This page is for individuals, organisations or community groups who would like to submit ideas for funding in the 2026-27 Budget.

Each year, Council prepares a budget to support the long-term financial, environmental and social sustainability of our community. The 2026–27 Budget will be shaped by the priorities in our Council Plan, Financial Plan and Asset Plan. Download the Council Plan here.

We know our community has great ideas and this is your chance to share them. All suggestions will be considered through the same prioritisation process as other projects, which may result in ideas being adopted, deferred or not proceeding. Your input helps us make informed, balanced decisions because the Rural City of Wangaratta is a place for everyone.

📝Before you begin: Is Your Idea a Budget Submission?

We welcome your ideas and appreciate your interest in shaping Wangaratta’s future. Before you submit, please take a moment to consider whether your suggestion is best suited for the budget process.

Budget submissions are intended for new initiatives or projects that require funding and align with Council’s strategic priorities. These might include infrastructure upgrades, new community programs, or service expansions.

Some types of feedback are better directed through other channels. For example:

Suggestions already covered by existing Council programs

If your idea fits within the budget process, we encourage you to include:

A clear description of your proposal
The location or area it relates to
The community benefit or impact
An estimated cost (if known)
Any supporting documents or quotes.

This helps us assess your submission fairly and transparently.
