The draft Community Engagement Policy 2025 was adopted by Council on 24 June 2025. The final version can be downloaded in the documents tab. 


Since the Community Engagement Policy 2020 was adopted, how Council engages has developed, and our Policy is changing to reflect that.

The draft Policy is centred around five engagement principles outlined in the Local Government Act (2020), and outlines Council's commitment to meaningful community engagement.

1 – Purpose - A community engagement process must have a clearly defined objective and scope. 

2 – Informed Participants in community engagement must have access to objective, relevant and timely information to inform their participation. 

3 – Representative - Participants in community engagement must be representative of the persons and groups affected by the matter that is the subject of the community engagement. 

4 – Supported - Participants in community engagement are entitled to reasonable support to enable meaningful and informed engagement. 

5 – Report -  Participants in community engagement are informed of the ways in which the community engagement process will influence Council decision making.
